NFL Season Week 4: 49ers vs Rams 2022 | Latest NFL News USA Today

The San Francisco 49ers Roster Decimated by Injuries Ahead of Monday Night Football Matchup Against the Los Angeles Rams

The San Francisco 49ers will be without WR Danny Gray, OL Nick Zakelj, RB Tyrion Davis-Price, TE Tyler Kroft, DB Tarvarius Moore, DL Javon Kinlaw and T Trent Williams as they welcome in their NFC West rival, the Los Angeles Rams for Monday Night Football. Earlier in the day, LB Azeez Al-Shaair left practice early with a calf injury and did not return. The injury comes at an unfortunate time as Al-Shaair was beginning to see his role on the defense increase due to injuries throughout the season.

7 Players that Will Not Play vs. the Rams

Linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair will not play as well as DL Javon Kinlaw, DE Deebo Samuel and WR Danny Gray. The following players are listed as questionable: DB Tarvarius Moore, RB Tyrion Davis-Price and TE Tyler Kroft. On top of all that, two key offensive linemen for the Niners will be missing as well: OL Nick Zakelj and T Trent Williams.

5 Key Players Remaining

In a game that could go either way, it’s important to know who’s on the field. The 49ers will be without WR Danny Gray, OL Nick Zakelj, RB Tyrion Davis-Price, TE Tyler Kroft, DB Tarvarius Moore, DL Javon Kinlaw and T Trent Williams as they welcome in their NFC West rival for Monday Night Football. Earlier in the day, LB Azeez Al-Shaair was placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Key players on both teams

On the offensive side, QB Matthew Stafford throws for 289.3 yards per game with a completion percentage at 63.6% and 12 TDs. RB Todd Gurley has seen his production drop off since coming back from injury, averaging less than 50 yards per game but he’s still found the endzone three times this season.

DeMeco Ryans is due for a promotion.

Earlier in the day, LB Azeez Al-Shaair was placed on injured reserve with a torn biceps. This left DeMeco Ryans as the only remaining linebacker on the roster, but he has been playing well and is due for a promotion. The team could be looking to bring in a player from outside, but with so many injuries throughout the season, they may feel it best to wait until next year.

The Rams’ offense is in shambles.

In a recent game against the Dallas Cowboys, quarterback Jared Goff threw a career-high six interceptions. And that was after he managed just one touchdown in his previous two games. Head coach Sean McVay admitted that Goff’s mistakes were frustrating and said he needs to improve. Meanwhile, running back Todd Gurley has been benched twice this season for disciplinary reasons.

Deebo Samuel is back to his old self.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel was an integral part of the team’s offense early in the season, but suffered a broken leg that kept him out for four games. The 26-year old just returned to practice this week, and according to Head Coach Kyle Shanahan, he is already back to his old self. He looks like he didn’t miss any reps in terms of his speed, Shanahan said.

This is a Talanoa Hufanga appreciation point.

Talanoa is a word used in Fiji to describe an open discussion that is guided and moderated. It’s a way for people to share their personal stories, memories and experiences, with the goal of coming to a mutual understanding on an issue. The Fijian term talanoa is translated as to tell one’s story. This past week, we experienced just such a Talanoa when our favorite football team, the SF 49ers, faced off against their NFC West rivals LA Rams.

The Rams can’t survive the Bay Area once again.

Danny Gray, Nick Zakelj, Tyrion Davis-Price, Tyler Kroft and Tarvarius Moore will all be missing on Monday night. Trent Williams is also out with a knee injury. Azeez Al-Shaair has been ruled out for the season after suffering a torn ACL during last week’s game against Arizona. The Rams have some injury issues as well: DL Aaron Donald and CB Marcus Peters are both listed as questionable for their matchup against the 49ers.
